The images will be unveiled at that time. 5125 Decatur Boulevard Suite A Indianapolis, IN 46241 T. 317-856-2167 During an open house from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m April 25 in front of the planetarium, students at Independence High School will unveil two new mural-sized images taken by NASA's Hubble Space Telescope. The stunning photographs of the well-known spiral galaxy M51 and an eerie-looking tower of gas in the Eagle Nebula commemorate Hubble's 15 years of viewing the heavens. The open house will include discussion of Hubble's accomplishments over the past 15 years. The 4-foot-by-6-foot image of M51 reveals striking details of how clusters of stars are born in the galaxy's long, curving spiral arms. The 3-foot-by-6-foot photograph of the Eagle Nebula shows a gaseous landscape sculpted by ultraviolet light from a group of massive, hot, young stars. After April 25, the images will be on display for month at Independence High School administration office for students, teachers, parents and the community to see.
