The Wide Field and Planetary Camera 2's cameras are trained on
four neighboring regions of the sky.
To ensure that there are no gaps in the overall view, the four
cameras are aimed so that each image slightly overlaps its neighboring
images.
Image processing software compares and cleans up the overlapping
edges as it stitches the four images together.
