The Hubble Heritage Project views Comet ISON, April 30, 2013

This image of Comet ISON was made by NASA's Hubble Space Telescope on April 30, 2013, when the comet was about 400 million miles from Earth and about 363 million miles from the Sun between the orbits of the planets Mars and Jupiter.  It is a composite of several separate exposures made in two colors of light to produce a color image.  The comet appears in front of a background of stars in our own Galaxy and much farther away numerous galaxies.

Professional and amateur astronomers interested in the carefully processed Hubble data (in FITS format) of Comet ISON can find it here: http://archive.stsci.edu/prepds/ison/.
