Nothing lasts forever including stars, which burn for billions of years, fueled by fusion in their cores. When a Sun-like star dies, it leaves a ghostly remnant of itself behind: a planetary nebula, a glowing shell of expelled gas. Planetary nebulae tell us not only about the eventual fate of our Sun, but about its birth the gases of dying stars are recycled throughout the universe, giving rise to new stars, new Suns. On this show, Marc Steiner's guests are Mario Livio, Space Telescope Science Institute; Jim O'Leary, Maryland Science Center; and Carol Christian, Space Telescope Science Institute.
